We didn’t get to choose our house here. It was chosen for us. We had friends here who we had to trust to pick out our home for us. They asked us what we needed in a home, what our budget needs were in a home, and things we would hope for in a home. But ultimately, they had to make the decision and make the arrangements.
When they chose the home and signed the contract, they called us and then send pictures. It was difficult from the pictures to tell exactly what we were getting in to. The pictures were very promising and encouraging! We were pleased when we arrived to find that the house was perfect to meet our needs… and then over and beyond. It was our hearts’ desires in a home here. God had blessed abundantly.
Many years ago, there was a famous tightrope walker. He performed many amazing feats… death defying feats.
One of his greatest stunts was a tightrope walk across Niagara Falls. Now, I have been to Niagara Falls. Let me just say, watching someone cross that… I think I would toss my cookies, if you know what I mean.
We will not be able to leave our property. We will even have to keep a watchful eye while on our property. Mostly, we will stay inside for safety… ducking away from the barrage of water bags, paint, and powder… and festivities all around us.
Tomorrow is Holi. And I could not have picked a better verse to do for devotions than the one that came next in order as I work my way through 1 Peter.
I love chocolate.
I love the beach.
I love my family.
I love scented candles and pedicures and volleyball and cheese and Christmas.
(It’s funny how we use the same word to describe such a wide variety of loves.)
Then there are somethings that are just hard to love…
