Last night, Jason used a friend's daughter as an example in family devotions...

He contrasted Proverbs 11:22 with Proverbs 31:30.

Proverbs 11:22 [As] a jewel of gold in a swine's snout, [so is] a fair woman which is without discretion.

Proverbs 31:30 Favour [is] deceitful, and beauty [is] vain: [but] a woman [that] feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.

Brittany was the Proverbs 31 godly example obviously. Jason was trying to explain to Gabe... So he started saying, "Brittany is a pretty girl, right?" Gabe's eyebrows lifted and he emphasized how much he agreed. I think it took Jason a little off guard how... Ahem... Vigorously Gabe agreed.  "Oh yes! She has a very pretty face!" We held back our laughter. He has already told us before that he wanted her to babysit him. Then Jason talked about the attributes that really make her beautiful... Her gentleness, her godliness, etc. Jason included in the list that Brittany was a Christian.

Gabe said, "She is?" Contemplative pause... "I didn't know that! That's good!"

Yes, we lost control of our laughter at that point... Apparently, our six year old has plans for the future that would be ruined if Brittany was not a Christian.

We have never encourage this kind of thinking or behavior in our children.  We don't allow boyfriend/girlfriend relationships and support the courtship model instead of the dating model. We don't even watch your typical Hollywood chick flicks, but some things just come natural in a boy.
