Do you remember who you were before you became a Christian? I remember who I was! It was not pretty! Selfish, lying, manipulative... Controlled by the lust of my flesh and the desires of my flesh and mind. (Eph 2:3)

It's no fun being reminded of who we were... But I sure do love being reminded of who I am now and what it took to change me. And I definitely love being reminded of what my future is!
Paul spends the first three chapters of Ephesians reminding the local church at Ephesus where they came from, where they are now, and how they got there. Why do we need to be reminded of these things? Because of Ephesians 4:1.

Ephesians 4:1 "I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,"

Therefore. It means "because of what I just told you."
Because God rescued us... Because He changed us... Because He loves us and has invested so much in us when we deserved His judgment, His condemnation, His wrath... We should walk worthy of what He has called us to do.
We were not saved to sit. We were saved to serve. I love the life He has given me. My old life was full of pain, regrets, loneliness, suicidal thoughts, feeling worthless, hopeless, purposeless... He changed all that. Now I love life. I know I am deeply loved and I am never alone. I have a purpose and hope! I don't miss my old life. I don't miss reaching out desperately to feel loved. I don't miss the guilt. I treasure the freedom!
I treasure it so much that my gratitude drives me to want to do something for Him... And Ephesians 4:1 reminds me to do what I do for Him wholeheartedly and to give it all I have... To do it well. I need to walk worthy of the calling He has given me.
So what has He called me (as well as you other ladies) to do?
(to be continued...)
